Everyone is a Somebody
"Nobody is a nobody, and everyone is a somebody." That is the message of a recent Morgan & Morgan commercial that caught my attention.
As the nation's largest personal injury law firm, Morgan & Morgan could easily focus on its size, number of cases, or financial recoveries. Instead, one commercial took a very different approach. One of the Morgans shared a personal story about a friend who suffered a tragic injury. He explained how that experience shaped the way he views every client, treating each one as if they were a friend facing the same circumstances.
What stood out to me was the absence of the usual legal advertising themes. There was no emphasis on money, settlements, or courtroom victories. Instead, the ad relied on empathy and human connection. The firm's message was not about itself, but about the people it serves.
The commercial concludes with the line: "Nobody is a nobody, and everyone is a somebody at Morgan & Morgan."
For those of us who present, speak, or lead, there's a great lesson here. People rarely remember all the facts, figures, and talking points. They remember how you made them feel. Morgan & Morgan's message works because it isn't really about Morgan & Morgan. It's about the people watching. When you put the audience at the center of the story instead of yourself, your message becomes far more memorable and impactful.
