One of my sons is blind, so I've spent a lot of time working in the blindness community.
One of the things I've learned from them is that offering help and assuming help are two very different things. People are helped when they need help and when they ask for help. Until then, respect is shown by giving people the space to find their own way.
As leaders, parents, colleagues, and friends, we often have good intentions. But sometimes the most respectful thing we can do is give people the opportunity to figure things out for themselves.
